Leicestershire Sale Underlines Resurgent Market

Specialist Healthcare Property Consultants HPC were the chosen advisers of DRE Healthcare Limited in the sale of their nursing home, completing in October 2013.

Part of a family owned group of companies, Sutton in the Elms Private Care Home had traded in the same ownership since 1992. Effectively purpose built throughout and offering single en-suite accommodation, the home has an enviable reputation within the East Midlands and, as expected, achieved significant interest when taken to the market in a confidential and targeted manner.

The ultimate purchaser, Woodgate Healthcare, acquired the facility in a competitive bidding process with similar offers being received from a number of interested parties, predominantly existing multiple operators throughout the Midlands and East of England. Situated immediately to the south west of Leicester and in close proximity to the M1, the acquisition is accessible from the existing group homes and increases the size of Woodgate Healthcare to six homes.

The sale was overseen at HPC by Director Nigel Newton Taylor. He commented ‘as anticipated with a high quality facility, interest was extremely keen throughout the process. We are in contact with an increasing number of regional multiple operators keen to expand existing groups and this facility, with close motorway proximity, was of interest to providers both North and South. As well as achieving client aspirations, the transfer represents an excellent step forward for Woodgate Healthcare and proof, if needed, that the market for quality care facilities remains strong.’
