In this instance HPC acted on behalf of Muller Property Group during the outline planning application relating to a site on Hallatrow Road, Paulton, Somerset. Falling within the jurisdiction of Bath & North East Somerset Council, the client sought consent for a new 84 bed care home.
Located to the north-west of Paulton, the proposed development will provide 84 spacious, en-suite bedrooms within a thoughtfully designed building set across part 2.5 and part 1.5 storeys. The scheme has been carefully planned to respond to the site’s topography and natural features, while maintaining appropriate relationships with neighbouring properties.
The care home will offer a wide range of facilities aimed at enhancing residents’ wellbeing, including lounges and day rooms, private dining areas, a cafĂ© bistro, cinema, hair and nail salon, and secure landscaped gardens.
Accompanying the application, a HPC Care Home Need Assessment illustrated how the development will play an important role in addressing a shortfall in modern care accommodation across the region, providing purpose-built facilities that support dementia and end-of-life care.
Following the decision, Julie Doherty, Managing Director – Care at Muller Property Group, confirmed “We are delighted to have secured outline planning permission for our Paulton care home scheme. This approval reflects the strength of the proposals and the clear need for high-quality, purpose-built care accommodation in the area”.
Outline planning consent, subject to completion of S.106 agreement, was granted 15th April 2026.
