HPC Acts for HICA Group in Sale of Specialist Care Service

HPC has acted on behalf of major non-profit provider The HICA Group in the transfer of a care home to new operators

Sunningdale Court in Scunthorpe is a purpose built service, providing 20 places for adults with learning disabilities. The home opened in 2000 and all accommodation is at ground floor level, spread across three linked bungalows and an administration block. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities and externally, the 1.1 acre plot provides generous gardens and recreation space. The home was operated by The HICA Group, and has now been taken over by Nottingham-based Affinity Care Consortium Ltd, owned by the Younas family.

Terry Peel, CEO of HICA Group, said that the decision to transfer Sunningdale Court had “not been taken lightly”, however added, “we believe that this has been the right decision for the organisation overall, and the sale will enable us to continue our programme of extending HICA’s first-class services in other areas.” He added, "Affinity Care Consortium are very experienced operators and we have a mutual agreement that care for people with learning disabilities will continue at Sunningdale Court."

HPC Director Ian Wilkie, who handled the transaction, commented, “We have worked with the The HICA Group management team for some time, on both strategic acquisitions and disposals. Our brief was to find an operator which would protect the interests of residents and build on the strong foundations laid by The HICA Group. As experienced operators with an existing presence in the region, we believe Affinity Care Consortium Ltd is the right organisation to take Sunningdale Court into its next phase and we are pleased to have worked with the Younas family to complete the transaction.”
