HPC Announces Sale of Pindar Oaks Hospital to Cambian on Behalf of Voyage

Specialist healthcare property consultant HPC has announced the sale of an award-winning Independent Hospital

Specialist healthcare property consultant HPC has announced the sale of an award-winning Independent Hospital in South Yorkshire to Cambian Group.

Pindar Oaks was opened in 2009 by Voyage, which operates over 250 services throughout the UK providing a range of care and support for people with specialist needs including learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, neurological impairments and mental health needs. The hospital won the Specialist Care category at the Healthcare Design Award in 2010.

HPC were instructed by leading private equity firm HgCapital, the major investor in Voyage, when it was decided that Pindar Oaks did not fit the future growth strategy of the company. Ian Wilkie, Director of HPC, who handled the sale commented, “Pindar Oaks is an exceptional facility which has been developed to an extremely high standard. Despite the requirement to handle the sale confidentially, we were able to generate a significant amount of interest and spoke to over 40 trade and private equity investors. We are delighted to have been appointed by HgCapital and the Voyage team to handle what was a sensitive assignment in a challenging market.”

Cambian is a major provider of specialist services in education, mental health and learning disabilities with services for over 1,100 individuals in 60 facilities. It is understood the company will carry out some alterations to the building before re-opening the hospital in Spring 2011. Mr Wilkie added, “we are delighted to have secured the future of the hospital and future jobs by completing the deal to Cambian. We would like to congratulate them on their acquisition.”
